This is Toad. His real name is Syd Toad, but he hates his first name and never ever uses it. So everyone in the part of Africa were he lives just calls him Toad. Toad is a ‘Speakabody, which means he can communicate with most other creatures, with the exception of most humans, snakes and crocodiles. Toad however considers himself superior to all other creatures as he believes he is smarter than most of them. Although his pomposity often gets him into trouble, he does however have a talent to make other creatures happy with his musical ‘rapping’ skills.
Old Camel is known by his name simply because he was the first camel bought by his owner Mr. Johnson. Like all camels he is a bit slow on the uptake, but he is extremely loyal and will risk life and limb to help to his friends. Since meeting Toad his life has changed for the better and together the two pals spend most of their time together either going on adventures or dreaming of them.
Hawk is a rather unusual bird and not very Hawk like at all. He has difficulty in speaking without screeching and with the exception of Toad not many other creatures can understand much of what he says. He has a short attention span and either forgets or mispronounces messages given to him. He also has a superiority complex and refers to himself as Mighty Hawk. He regularly clashes with Toad, who he refers to as Fwogtoad and almost any other creature he meets. However if there’s danger about and Hawk can help, he resorts to some rather unusual methods to deal with the danger.
Paul Rogers is the third child of Mary and Fred Rogers, and lives with his parents, grandparents and twin sisters in the farm opposite Wellybelly Lake. Toad soon discovers that Paul is a special human being as he has the ability to communicate with animals as well as humans. During the second story in the series, Toad and the Miracle at Croco Lake, Toad, Old Camel and Paul become firm friends and spend a lot of time together. -1.jpg)
